PTERODACTYL (COLOR WILD THE SKY)

A day like this belongs in an old country song/ The copper trees, the buzzing bees hello calling crows/A distant farmer plows his field, My neighbor mows her lawn/and on the north wind rides a pterodactyl that glides

Nothin to do but bask in the leisure of this day/A ballgame, some erudite talk, a chorus of rough-legged hawks/but the dog barks, the billygoat jumps & the pterodactyl screams

Jays & crows make a din/they sing loud the howling wind/Gonna ride a pterodactyl, then we’re gonna fly/We’re gonna color wild the sky

The fields and the sky, the only boundaries on my mind/the barn’s decrepit, while the beer flows & the trees need attention/the ghosts of dead coyotes howl, harmony and grace

Screech owls & rough-legged hawks make a din/they sing loud the howling wind/ Gonna ride a pterodactyl, then we’re gonna fly /We’re gonna color wild the sky

Autumn winter passing/planet dips & turns/pterodactyl dances while the world burns/star light in the Michigan night the pterodactyl flies/she colors wild the sky
